Grimm quote
Episode: Maiden Quest
Quote: "After three days and three nights, whoever tries and does not succeed, shall be put to death." is quoted from the story 12 Dancing Princesses. The story goes that the king's 12 daughters all slept in one room with all windows and doors shut. Yet, their shoes would be mysteriously worn to taters as though they went dancing. Nobody including their father could figure out how or where the princesses been. The king made an announcement to all the people in the land that whoever discovers the secret of the princesses night festivities would marry one of his daughters and become king after his death.
A king's son was first to spend the three nights to find out but failed. Intentionally the king ordered his head to be cut off. Eventually others had failed and put to death by the king. Soon afterwards an older man who used to be a soldier. Decided to take on the request of discovering the princesses secret and become king. Anyways, he was told by an old lady to not to drink the alcohol and was given a visibility cloak. Turns out the princesses put sleeping residue in the gentlemen's drink, which he had to drink but pretended by snoring. The soldier followed them to the woods where met up with the princes who escorted them all the ball. The next day the soldier reported back that they had sneaked out using a door that lead underground towards the river. In the end, the soldier chosen to marry the eldest daughter.
And somewhat like the story, the wealthy mobster Daniel Troyer, who symbolizes the king, has chosen three young men to fulfill to win his daughter's, Emily, heart as part of Martial Wesen ritual and earn fortune. The two men who had to bring the head of Frankie Adkins who killed the mobster's son failed because they were brutally slaughter by a Wesen. Three one denied being behind the killings and explain that his mother forced him into it not knowing that he's gay. Luckily, Nick and Hank stopped the third young man from going through with the plans.
In the end, Mr. Troyer knew it was his daughter who was protecting Frankie and killing the young contestants, but just to prove that she was stronger than ever.
